The IU13 Instructional Media Services (IMS) is committed to providing valuable instructional tools to support your teaching like Discovery Education, BrainPOP, and Starlab, to name a few. The IU13 IMS strives to provide high-quality resources that meet the evolving needs of our educators and students.
Every five years, the IU convenes a committee of district representatives to review usage data and ensure resources are effective and cost-efficient. Jana DelMarcelle and Christine Sklareski represented Etown last year. The IU provided usage data for Discovery Education, BrainPOP, Gale, Sora, and CultureGrams, noting significant subscription cost increases that made continuing all five resources unsustainable. The purpose of the committee was to analyze district-wide usage data to determine the most critical resources for renewal.
After careful consideration, the committee has decided to renew subscriptions for Discovery Education, BrainPOP, and Sora, continuing access to these popular platforms for another five years. These renewals take effect on July 1, 2025, ensuring a smooth transition for the upcoming academic year.
However, due to low usage across all districts and the rising costs of instructional subscriptions, the committee has decided to discontinue the Culturegrams subscription. This means that Elizabethtown Area School District (EASD) will have access to Culturegrams only until June 30, 2025. We encourage you to explore the wealth of resources available through Discovery Education, BrainPOP, and the many instructional resources that EASD subscribes to as you plan your lessons for next fall.
