Clever Messaging is being discontinued

Clever is planning to discontinue Clever Messaging by the end of this calendar year. If you're not familiar with Clever Messaging, this is a feature in the Clever Portal that enables messaging between teachers and students. Teachers will still be able to post public announcements for their students and classes using the Class Announcement feature in the Clever Portal.

Less than 20% of teachers in your district have used Clever Messaging in the 2024 - 2025 school year. Even though there is low usage in your district, we know removing a classroom tool from any teacher can be disruptive.

We’re proud to have built Clever Messaging in 2020 to support districts with urgent needs when learning was often pushed fully remote due to COVID-19. As the digital landscape has evolved since then and other platforms devoted to messaging products have emerged, fewer teachers and students are using Clever Messaging.

We want to assure you that this change is part of our ongoing efforts to improve our offerings as the identity platform for education. By devoting resources to products that continuously support your cybersecurity, data, and classroom needs, we will be better positioned to continue serving educators with tools like our recent free releases such as Substitute Accessrole-based access control, and coming soon, a more streamlined iOS app for students.
