Proper Chromebook Care

  • Charge your device every night.
  • Restart the Chromebook at least once a week.
  • Keep food and drink away from the computer.
  • Carry device with two hand and lid closed.
  • Do not pick up by the screen or press on lid.
  • Carry the device in the EASD carry case - DO NOT PUT CASE IN BACKPACK.
  • Keep open tabs to a minimum to improve performance and battery life.
  • Do not decorate the surface of the Chromebooks.
  • Leave all EASD labels on device untouched.
  • Keep the ChromeOS up to date.
  • Be wary of suspicious emails and websites.

Don't click on links in suspicious emails or websites.

Never click on links or download attachments from unknown sources.

Educate yourself and family members about common online scams.

 


Screen Care

  • Do not touch the screen with any object that could mark or scratch the surface.
  • Do not close the screen on objects.

When Cleaning

  • Always shut the device down first.
  • Use a soft, dry, microfiber or anti-static cloth to clean the device.
  • Never use any liquids, sprays, or wet clothes.

Security and Storage

  • Students are responsible for their device and should never be used by anyone but the assigned student.
  • Never share your district password.
  • Never leave your Chromebook unattended.

At Home

  • Charge the Chromebook in a safe location away from pets.
  • Use the original charger that was provided with the Chromebook.
  • Keep the cable organized to prevent tripping hazards.
  • Have a designated spot for the Chromebook when it is not in use. 
  • Do not leave the device in a vehicle during extreme temperatures or sitting in direct sunlight or near heaters when at home.
